Sauerland Fine Distillery

Driven by pure passion, we conceived the idea of producing our own spirits of the highest quality. Ever since that idea took root, we have been constantly striving to perfect the quality of our products.

This is made possible not only by our passion for the art of distillation but also by our selection of naturally pure, mostly regional ingredients, which define the distinctive flavor of our brandies, spirits, and liqueurs.

For production, we use groundwater extracted from a depth of 188 meters from the underlying 400-million-year-old Devonian rock. As a family-run business, everyone involved contributes through their passion and personal enthusiasm to creating a product that is harmonious in every way.

To ensure the quality of our product, “automation” through machines has no place here. Distilling the true essence from the mash—the precise separation between the heads, the heart, and the tails—is something no machine in the world can achieve without compromising quality.

That is why handcrafted work is a cornerstone of our philosophy. However, this handcrafted approach does not end with the production of the product itself but is also incorporated into the subsequent processes. Bottling, labeling, and sealing are also done by hand. This makes every single bottle unique—crafted by people with a passion for the product, not by machines.
Our philosophy thus combines select, regional ingredients whenever possible, water from our own well, and passion with craftsmanship. Thanks to these cornerstones, we produce a unique, naturally pure product without additives.

Otmar Alt, born in 1940 in Wernigerode, is one of Germany’s most significant contemporary artists. His works are characterized by intense colors as well as clearly defined shapes and contours.

However, Otmar Alt is not only a gifted artist but also a longtime friend of the distillery who has accompanied us and the distillery’s development from the very beginning

the raven became our emblem. Many of his works displayed in our spaces bear witness to his creative power—come see his creativity for yourself!

What to expect during our distillery tour:

• Fascinating stories about the production process and the different qualities of distillates.
• Informative details, such as the distinction between brandy, spirit, and liqueur / schnapps, distillate, and spirits.
• A guided tour of our production facility, the former sawmill.
• A tasting of our products, which are of course also available for purchase.

If there is sufficient space for your group size, you will receive an email with payment instructions. Once we receive the payment, we’ll send you an invoice, and your tour will be firmly reserved at that moment.

Note 1: You’re visiting a fine distillery where the focus is on enjoyment and a passion for quality spirits. Please arrive sober. Otherwise, tasting our high-proof spirits could bring your day of adventure to an abrupt end...
