From the starting point, the “Hachtor,” you’ll first ride a short distance through Rüthen’s historic downtown toward the cemetery. The cemetery is located on the grounds of the town’s former castle. Just before the cemetery, turn right down the Borgberg and continue through the Kitzelbach valley. After crossing the B 516 and the Möhne River, the tour heads eastward parallel to the Möhne to the Hankerfeld industrial park; from there, it continues through the picturesque “Bibertal” valley, past the outdoor swimming pool, to the start of the “Bibertal Forest Adventure Trail.” Here, the route branches off to the right. It climbs into the Rüthen City Forest. You’ll ride a longer stretch along the high-altitude trail. Shortly before the Brilon city forest, turn left onto the cross-country trail down into the Upper Bibertal, then back up on the opposite side before heading downhill again into the Möhnetal. You’ll cross the B 516 once more and head up the Hengelsbach Valley on the opposite side. At the border with Büren (Historical Schnadstein / border between the districts of Soest, Paderborn, and Hochsauerland), you’ll first turn left and head up the hill, then turn left again after just 400 meters, heading down into the valley. After another 400 meters, the route branches off toward the northwest and leads below the Immenköpfe mountain range to the K 45. Follow this road uphill and, at the edge of the forest, you’ll reach the turnoff to the “Römerlager Kneblinghausen.” Immediately beyond this point are the paddocks of “Gestüt Wittekindshof,” one of Germany’s most successful horse studs. Continue north until just before the Meiste industrial park, which you’ll bypass on the left. West of the village of Meiste, follow the bike path at a leisurely pace back to the starting point in downtown Rüthen.
