Pengel-Anton-Route route
Passenger trains ran on the Soest-Brilon line from 1899 to 1960. As in the Münsterland, so also in the Möhnetal, people only spoke of the "Pengel Anton" or the "Kiepenkerl".
In 1970, freight traffic between Soest and Belecke was also discontinued and the tracks subsequently dismantled. After a period of disuse, the track was restored and opened to cycle traffic by 1985.
If you cycle the Pengel-Anton-Radweg from Brilon to Soest, you cycle with the gradient.Between Belecke and the Möhnesee, the different landscapes of this region become clear. The route leads downstream along the Möhne to the Möhnesee. From Wamel, the route climbs gently up to the Haarstrang. Here you have wonderful views of the Möhnesee and the Arnsberg Forest. The highest point is reached in Echtrop. A magnificent view of the Soest Börde opens up. Then you roll along the former railroad line into the Hanseatic town of Soest. The town offers many possibilities.A return journey on the cycle bus is possible on Sundays.
A stop at the Mülheim Battle is always an experience for children.
The old railroad carriage at the former Sichtigvor station can often be visited on Sundays.
On the ascent to Echtrop, benches invite you to take a short break with a view of the Möhnesee.
There are various places to stop for refreshments along the way and in Soest.
