The forest ship has dropped anchor in the Bibertal valley in the town of Rüthen.
The Waldschiff, a project component of the EFRE project (European Regional Development Fund) "WaldMeer", is an information point on the Sauerland-Waldroute that is used for environmental education measures.
The builder of the forest ship is the Zweckverband Naturpark Arnsberg Wald. In a ceremony on May 27, 2015, the forest ship was officially inaugurated.
Starting point for exciting exploration tours with the ranger, as well as a resting place for hikers, its shape was modeled on a sailing ship and is thus unique.
The forest ship, contact point and small information center and ranger station. It serves among other things to inform about dates and hikes.
As a meeting place it has its own toilet facilities - also for people with handicap! Thus, the forest ship is a place to stay, which supports environmental education and also makes it easier and possible for people with handicaps to access nature.
