Since 2000, the finest brandies, spirits and liqueurs have been produced by the Sauerland distillery in the village of Kallenhardt. Since 2007, a premium whiskey is also produced, the single malt whiskey "Thousand Mountains Mc Raven". With the move to a larger building, the purchase of a larger distillery and the associated reopening on 23.4.2016, we initiated another chapter in the success story of Kallenhardt distilling.

From pure passion arose the idea to produce distillates of the highest quality ourselves. Since this idea, we are constantly striving to perfect the quality of our products.

This is due not only to our passion for the art of distilling, but also to the selection of natural, mostly regional ingredients that determine the unmistakable taste of our brandies, spirits and liqueurs.

For the production we use groundwater, which is taken from the 400 million year old Devonian rock at a depth of 188 meters. As a family business, all those involved contribute to the creation of an all-round harmonious product through their passion and personal enthusiasm.

To ensure the quality of our product, "automation" by machines is out of place. To distill the real heart out of the mash, the exact separation between pre-run and mid-run, mid-run and post-run, no machine in the world can do that without sacrificing quality.

Therefore, manual labor is a cornerstone of our philosophy. However, manual work does not end with product manufacture, but is also taken into account in the following work processes. It is also filled, labeled and sealed by hand. In this way, each bottle becomes unique, made by people with a passion for the product - and not by machines. Our philosophy thus combines selected, if possible regional ingredients, water from our own well, as well as passion and handwork. Thanks to these cornerstones, we produce a unique, natural product without additives.

Otmar Alt, born in 1940 in Wernigerode, is one of the most important contemporary artists in Germany. His works are characterized by intense colors and clearly defined shapes and contours.

However, Otmar Alt is not only a gifted artist, but also a long-time friend of the house, who has always accompanied us and the development of the distillery.

Thanks to him, the raven has become our distinctive mark. Many of his works in our rooms bear witness to his creative power - come and see his creativity for yourself!
