Kallenhardt
Kallenhardt
The route takes you through the forests of Rüthen, Brilon and Kallenhardt. Highlights are the Hohler Stein natural monument and the heath landscape on the way back.
From the starting point at the church in Kallenhardt, the trail passes the elementary school and the historic town hall, first heading west along Burgtorstraße and then downhill toward Körtlinghausen Castle. A detour is worthwhile. However, the tour branches off to the right beforehand into the valley of the Glenne and leads along agricultural paths up to the so-called "Eulenspiegel". From there, after crossing the L 776, the route heads south again along the heights of the Calvary. In the upper valley of the Glenne, the river is crossed again and it goes up for about 30 meters until the path branches off to the right and now follows the contour lines of the Sudlinden head and the Brilonscher head. After a hairpin bend, the route follows a short stretch downstream. At the underpass of the L 776 the route branches off to the west and leads in the valley of a side stream up into the Kallenhardt forest. Behind the spring area, the trail turns north to the edge of the forest and follows it westward towards the nature reserve "Hoher Stein". At the edge of the magnificent Wacholderheide, the natural monument "Hohler Stein", which is also significant in terms of cultural history, awaits the bikers. Biking around the limestone quarries, you will return to Kallenhardt in a short time.
